Caminito del Rey
World famous for its nickname of the most dangerous path, Caminito del Rey, which was officially closed to the public while being informally a popular rendezvous of lovers of adrenaline, has finally reopened to the public last March.
Located in the Gorge of El Chorro in South of Spain (Andalusia), not far from Malaga, Caminito del Rey (literally little road of the King) is part of these steep cliffs trails on which it was better worth the jeopardised and the squeamish.
Built between 1901 and 1905 at 100 metres above the river Guadalhorce, Caminito del Rey became a via ferrata for the amateurs of strong sensations, which was originally to build two hydroelectric dams on the river.
This steep road does only one meter wide for three kilometers long. Among natural ledges carved into the cliff then are blocks of concrete, rails used to transport carts as well as very narrow gateways. Suddenly, more daredevils invested it, this despite its closure to the public in 2001.
From 2010, development and restoration work took place to build a true secure path just above the original Caminito to allow the public to get safer. This new path now extends 7.7 kilometres (including 2.9 gateways) and opened on March 28, 2015.

If previously it was the most dangerous trail, it is more nothing both work came to secure the whole route. Now, this is no longer the fear that pervades us along the Caminito del Rey, but only the incredible beauty of the decor throughout the ride. Between the sublime waters, the rock out of sight or even the Eagles which seem to follow a same choreography, while high, as if they were the guards of this place if well preserved, it is definitely a unique experience, the kind of experiences that let beautiful images engraved in mind.
